SUMMARY:WTTAP/Nevada LTAP: Plans Reading (Reno)
DESCRIPTION:Nevada LTAP has kindly reserved 5 seats for tribal members and employees. \nCourse Summary: \nRoadway plans are developed to provide a pictorial view of the existing facilities and proposed improvements on a particular section of undeveloped land or existing roadway. They convey information relevant to the construction of the roadway\, ranging from the quantities of construction materials required to the horizontal layout of the roadway. Reading a set of plans can seem overwhelming but at the conclusion of this class every student will possess the knowledge to read a set of plans\, calculate quantities\, measure distances as well as many other issues related to roadway plan interpretation. \nThis lively class will change the way one thinks about reading and understanding roadway construction plans. Participants will learn the primary elements of a set of roadway plans and what each element contains. The course will touch on the title sheet\, schematic plan\, utility plan\, typical sections\, general notes\, maintenance of traffic plans\, plan/profile sheets\, cross sections\, and miscellaneous details. Several practical exercises provide students an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of course content. By the end of the training\, participants will possess the knowledge to communicate key details about any set of roadway plans to those interested. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDescribe Key Components of a Set of Roadway Plans\nIdentify Key Elements Found on the Title Sheet\nDescribe the Elements of a Typical Section\nDemonstrate Proper Technique for Locating/Calculating Quantities\nIdentify the Primary Elements of Plan and Profile (P&P) Sheets\nIdentify the Different Drainage Elements on a Set of Plans\nDescribe the Purpose and Elements of a Standard Specification Manual/Where to Locate\nExplain the Purpose of Standard Drawings/Where to Locate\nDemonstrate Grasp of Relationship between Plan & Profile (P&P) Sheets and Cross Section Sheets\n\nPrerequisites: \nNone \nTarget Audience: \nThis training is designed for those who want to learn how to read a set of plans and for personnel who are required to read and understand roadway plans\, and to answer questions about specific items on a set of roadway plans whether involved in the construction and maintenance of roadways. It is for construction workers\, inspectors. \, design engineers or department liaisons\, and for those who just wish to know how to read plans. Previous experience with roadway plan development is not required.

SUMMARY:Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE): Traffic Signal Maintenance at Interconnected Grade Crossings (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Traffic Signal Maintenance at Interconnected Grade Crossings\nDate: May 12\, 2026\nTime: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm PT\nCost: Free members/$79 non-members\nContinuing Education Credits: 1 PDH/CM credit\nOrganization: Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) \nTraffic signals that are interconnected with railroad signal systems require careful design\, coordination\, and ongoing maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation for both roadway users and rail traffic. This webinar will provide an overview of railroad (RR) interconnections and highlight the critical role that proper traffic signal maintenance plays at these locations. \nParticipants will explore real-world case studies and learn design best practices for implementing and maintaining these complex systems. The session will also cover key operational considerations\, including recommended monthly maintenance activities\, annual joint testing with railroads\, and the impacts of traffic signal timing\, controller\, and software changes on railroad interconnections. Attendees will gain practical insights to help ensure continued safety\, compliance\, and effective coordination between roadway and rail signal systems.
