SUMMARY:Western TTAP: Pothole Patching and Repair (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Using proper patching and repair techniques can improve structural integrity and restore rideability for pavements experiencing local failures. This 2-hour training compares partial- and full-depth repair techniques along with materials used to implement them. \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter attending training\, you will be able to: \n\nExplain the purpose of pothole patching and repair\nDescribe pavement conditions that indicate a partial-depth patching (PDP) is appropriate\nDescribe pavement conditions that indicate a full-depth patching (FDP) is appropriate\nSelect appropriate projects for PDP and FDP\nIdentify best practices for properly completing repairs and key inspection factors when monitoring an FDP\n\nPrerequisites: \nPlease complete the following brief self-paced training prior to attending: Asphalt Partial-Depth and Full-Depth Patching. \nTarget Audience: \nThis training is intended for personnel who select or apply patching materials in potholes or localized structural failures\, as well as personnel who may specify or inspect the work. \nInstructor: \nGreg Duncan\, P.E.\, is a Senior Engineer at Applied Pavement Technology\, Inc.\, with more than 30 years of pavement materials\, construction\, and roadway maintenance engineering experience. He is a certified National Highway Institute (NHI) instructor and regularly teaches NHI’s “Maintenance Leadership Academy” and “Constructing and Inspecting Asphalt Paving Projects” courses. Greg regularly works on national and state projects dealing with preventive maintenance treatments. \n \n*Click here to download the training flier.

SUMMARY:Density on the Go: Roller-Mounted Ground-Penetrating Radar Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join the Illinois Center for Transportation\, Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois Asphalt Pavement Association to explore the emerging application of ground-penetrating radar for monitoring the compaction of flexible pavement on the go. \nThe free workshop will be held online on Thursday\, Nov. 12\, from 12:00-1:30 p.m. (CST). Attendees may earn 1.5 professional development hours. \nThe workshop will cover GPR fundamentals and current Illinois quality control and acceptance practices for in situ density of hot-mix asphalt and stone-matrix asphalt. It will also explore ICT’s roller-mounted GPR technology and its successful applications through several demonstration projects conducted across Illinois. \nAttendees will learn about the technology\, cost and time benefits for contractors and agencies\, and reliability compared with cores and nuclear gauge measurements. They will also have an opportunity to discuss and provide feedback to help accelerate roller-mounted GPR adoption across the state. \nPlease direct any questions to ICT-Communications@illinois.edu. Secure your spot! \nTo register: https://illinois.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_tjKGGAq1SiqyWYR9gBO40g#/registration
