DESCRIPTION:Course Summary: \nThis 2.5-hour virtual training explores the rationale for using various kinds of signs and sign supports and shares best practices for sign management systems. \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter attending training\, you will be able to: \n\nDescribe the role\, features\, and urgency of repair for four sign types\nExplain state and local requirements for choosing sign materials including face sheeting\, backing\, and supports\nApply MUTCD guidance as well as Nevada Standard Plans and Specifications to selected scenarios\nDescribe the five elements of a sign management system\n\nPrerequisites: \nNone. \nTarget Audience: \nAnyone who has responsibility for road sign design\, maintenance\, safety\, etc. \nInstructor: \nTodd Morrison\, P.E. is a road safety advocate as a speaker\, workshop instructor\, and online trainer. For the past 12 years\, he has worked for numerous contractors\, Local Technical Assistance Programs\, cities\, counties\, and DOTs. He has taught over 500 workshops and trained over 15\,000 individuals. He retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet after serving in the Divisions of Construction\, Maintenance\, and Traffic. At the Cabinet\, he worked with environmental\, work zone\, construction and maintenance concerns as an Environmental Coordinator\, Maintenance/Traffic Engineer\, and as a Branch Manager for Operations. Recently\, Todd served for 2 years as Kentucky’s Safety Circuit Rider helping local agencies identify low cost improvements to reduce crashes. Todd is an ATSSA certified Traffic Control Supervisor\, Flagging Instructor\, and Traffic Control Design Specialist.

DESCRIPTION:Using proper patching and repair techniques can improve structural integrity and restore rideability for pavements experiencing local failures. This 2-hour training compares partial- and full-depth repair techniques along with materials used to implement them. \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter attending training\, you will be able to: \n\nExplain the purpose of pothole patching and repair\nDescribe pavement conditions that indicate a partial-depth patching (PDP) is appropriate\nDescribe pavement conditions that indicate a full-depth patching (FDP) is appropriate\nSelect appropriate projects for PDP and FDP\nIdentify best practices for properly completing repairs and key inspection factors when monitoring an FDP\n\nPrerequisites: \nNone. \nTarget Audience: \nThis training is intended for personnel who select or apply patching materials in potholes or localized structural failures\, as well as personnel who may specify or inspect the work. \nInstructor: \nGreg Duncan\, P.E.\, is a Senior Engineer at Applied Pavement Technology\, Inc.\, with more than 30 years of pavement materials\, construction\, and roadway maintenance engineering experience. He is a certified National Highway Institute (NHI) instructor and regularly teaches NHI’s “Maintenance Leadership Academy” and “Constructing and Inspecting Asphalt Paving Projects” courses. Greg regularly works on national and state projects dealing with preventive maintenance treatments.
