DESCRIPTION:Please note: this is a two-day virtual training on March 10 and March 12 (9:00–11:30am both days). To receive your certification of completion\, you must attend both days. \nCourse Summary: \nThis two-day virtual training introduces essential components of the construction management process. By applying the information learned in the workshop\, you can improve how you manage project risks\, communications\, delivery\, and scheduling. \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter attending training\, you will be able to: \n\nDescribe the relationships among owner\, contractor\, and engineer on public works construction projects.\nDescribe how to build and lead highly effective teams.\nCompare common project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build\, Construction Manager at Risk\, and Construction Manager/General Contractor).\nDescribe common types of contract documentation.\nIdentify methods for selecting a construction contractor.\nExplain the importance of communication with a contractor and stakeholders\nDescribe the function of a quality assurance program\n\nPrerequisites: \nNone. \nTarget Audience: \nAnyone managing public works construction projects who needs to develop construction management skills or wants to improve specific aspects of their project management approach. This may include: \n\nEngineers\nDesigners\nConstruction Inspectors\nEngineering Consultants\nAmerican Public Works Association Members\n\nInstructor: \nGreg Duncan is a Senior Engineer at Applied Pavement Technology\, Inc.\, with more than 30 years of pavement materials\, construction\, and roadway maintenance engineering experience. He is a certified National Highway Institute (NHI) instructor and regularly teaches NHI’s “Maintenance Leadership Academy” and “Constructing and Inspecting Asphalt Paving Projects” courses. Greg regularly works on national and state projects dealing with preventive maintenance treatments.
