SUMMARY:WTTAP Low-Cost Safety Improvements (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Course Summary: \nThis two-day virtual training explores selecting and implementing low-cost measures for reducing fatalities and injuries caused by road departures and collisions with fixed objects as well as collisions at rural intersections. \nPlease note: this is a two-day virtual training on January 21 and January 22 (8:00–10:30am both days). To receive your certification of completion\, you must attend both days. \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter attending training\, you will be able to: \n\nExplain the importance of reducing collisions and the challenges to fully implementing collision reduction techniques\nIdentify roadway safety issues\nDescribe low-cost measures for correcting safety issues by:\nKeeping the driver on the road\nReducing or eliminating hazards in the clear zone\n\nPrerequisites: \nNone. \nTarget Audience: \nAnyone who has responsibility for road design\, maintenance\, safety\, etc. \nInstructor: \nTodd Morrison\, P.E. is a road safety advocate as a speaker\, workshop instructor\, and online trainer. For the past 12 years\, he has worked for numerous contractors\, Local Technical Assistance Programs\, cities\, counties\, and DOTs. He has taught over 500 workshops and trained over 15\,000 individuals. He retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet after serving in the Divisions of Construction\, Maintenance\, and Traffic. At the Cabinet\, he worked with environmental\, work zone\, construction and maintenance concerns as an Environmental Coordinator\, Maintenance/Traffic Engineer\, and as a Branch Manager for Operations. Recently\, Todd served for 2 years as Kentucky’s Safety Circuit Rider helping local agencies identify low cost improvements to reduce crashes. Todd is an ATSSA certified Traffic Control Supervisor\, Flagging Instructor\, and Traffic Control Design Specialist.
