DESCRIPTION:Date/Time: January 19\, 2027 (9:00-11:00am PT) \nLocation: Teams \nCost: FREE *preregistration is required \nThe overall Road Safety Champion Program provides a high-level overview of road safety in the United States through seven modules. \nThe goal of this two-hour virtual training\, Module 4–Overview of the MUTCD is to provide an introduction and overview of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The MUTCD defines the standards by which traffic signs\, road surface markings\, and signals are designed\, installed\, and used on all public streets\, highways\, bikeways\, and private roads open to public traffic. This module will help participants become aware of the need for uniformity of traffic control devices\, its legal requirements\, and related liability. Emphasis will be given to an understanding of the MUTCD\, Traffic Control Devices\, and Temporary Traffic Control. The overall goal of this training is to provide participants with an overview of the manual and how to use it. \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter attending training\, you will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the purpose and the organization of the MUTCD\nUnderstand the purpose of Traffic Control Devices (TCDs) and identify their five principles\nDescribe the fundamental principles of Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) and list the four components of the TTC zones\n\n*Road Safety Champion Module 4 is an elective course of the Road Scholar Program. \nPrerequisites: \nNone. \nInstructor: \nCarrie Brown\, MSML has 15 years of experience in public health and human services. She holds a BA in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Nevada\, Las Vegas\, and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governor’s University. Carrie has served communities as a Director of Human Services\, Tribal Health and Human Services Director\, Safety Circuit Rider\, and currently\, as the Director of the Nevada LTAP under Applied Pavement Technology. Her expertise is in training delivery with a focus on cultural sensitivity. Her mission is to empower Nevada agencies to support and strengthen their communities through transportation countermeasures and safety initiatives. \nClick here to download the training flier.
