SUMMARY:Center for Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety (CPBS): Travel Behavior as a Road Safety Strategy - How Exposure is Influenced by Land Use and Infrastructure (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Travel Behavior as a Road Safety Strategy – How Exposure is Influenced by Land Use and Infrastructure\nDate: October 28\, 2026\nTime: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: Unknown\nOrganization: Center for Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety (CPBS)  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar examines how exposure to kinetic energy introduced by motor vehicles influences road safety. The presentation covers a variety of geographies with a specific focus on a recent paper that explored 227 urban areas in 45 US states. The relationship between exposure-based measures—including automobile mode share\, vehicle miles travelled (VMT)\, and commute time—and motor vehicle occupant\, pedestrian\, and bicyclist fatalities is explored while controlling for other transportation and socioeconomic factors. Findings suggest that improving road safety requires not only reducing crash severity and conflicts but also reducing the underlying exposure to kinetic energy in the road system in the first place. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor more information about this training\, click here.\nLink: https://www.pedbikesafety.org/webinars

SUMMARY:Eno Center for Transportation: Transportation Affordability Part 2 - Automotive (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Transportation Affordability Part 2 – Automotive\nDate: October 29\, 2026\nTime: 9:00 am to 10:00 am PT\nCost: Free\nContinuing Education Credits: Unknown\nOrganization: Eno Center for Transportation   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis October 29th webinar is the second in a two-part series on transportation affordability hosted by the Eno Center for Transportation and will explore personal vehicle affordability. The first in the series will be on October 20th and will address transit affordability. \nThe panelists will discuss recent trends in vehicle and fueling affordability for both electric and gasoline powered vehicles and how these are impacting transportation access. Increases to the price of gas following the War with Iran has increased the cost of transportation for non-electric vehicle owners. Additionally\, the cost to purchase new vehicles has increased\, incentivizing consumers to maintain their vehicles for longer lifecycles. Automotive vehicle affordability is important both for domestic drivers and for the competitiveness of US automotive companies in international markets. \nFor more information about this training\, click here.\nLink: https://enotrans.org/events/transportation-affordability-webinar-series-part-2-automotive/

SUMMARY:Transportation Research Board (TRB): Competing Priorities for Pavement Management
DESCRIPTION:Webinar: Competing Priorities for Pavement Management\nDate: November 6\, 2026\nTime: 7:00 am to 8:30 am PT\nCost: $100\nContinuing Education Credits: 1.5 PDH credits\nOrganization: Transportation Research Board (TRB)  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPavement management decisions must balance infrastructure conditions\, roadway safety\, and limited agency resources. Incorporating friction and crash data into pavement management systems can help agencies consider pavement surface safety alongside traditional measures such as cracking\, ride quality\, and rutting. TRB will host a webinar on Friday\, November 6\, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM Eastern that will explore how agencies can integrate friction and crash data into pavement management decisions to support roadway safety and Vision Zero goals. Presenters will discuss the relationship between pavement friction and roadway safety and how friction and crash data can be incorporated into treatment selection and pavement investment decisions. Attendees will learn approaches for balancing competing pavement conditions and safety priorities within defined agency resources. \nFor more information about this training\, click here.\nLink: https://www.nationalacademies.org/projects/TRB-TRB%20EO-25-P-659/event/47421

SUMMARY:Utah LTAP: 5 Dysfunctions of a Team
DESCRIPTION:Supervisors are critical to an effective risk management program.  In addition to recognizing and controlling loss sources for the employer\, supervisors must know how to take appropriate actions in order to reduce the employers liability.  They are also required to work with a wide variety of individuals\, both co-workers and others.  And they need to know how to get results. That means making employees be the best they can be and providing good customer service to citizens\, even when they cannot accommodate the citizens request. \nThese courses are communications\, motivational and employee interaction courses.  Basic skills include coaching\, assertiveness\, and verbal influence (which means redirecting behavior using words) and communication with different genders\, generations\, and personality styles.  Discussions include how masterful communications can turn “confrontations”\, such as disciplinary scenarios and/or dealing with an irate citizen or customer\, into success stories. \nPlease email jackie.sanders@usu.edu with a physical mailing address so we can send the book needed for this class. \nTeacher: Randy Wahlen – UTAH LTAP \nTaylorsville USU Campus – 920 W Levoy Drive – Taylorsville \n8:30 am – 12:30 pm \nRoom 156
