Course Summary:
Are you struggling with how to seek and secure the funding needed to bring your Tribal transportation and infrastructure projects to life? If so, you won’t want to miss the upcoming National Tribal Grant Writing Workshop.
This workshop will feature three tracks – beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Pick sessions that speak to you and your agency needs.
Whether you are new to grant writing or a seasoned professional, the Tribal Grant Writing Workshop will meet your needs. You will walk away with the tools and confidence to unlock the funding Tribal communities need.
Learning Objectives:
Over the course of the workshop, you will learn how to:
- Effectively search for and identify the right grant funding opportunities.
- Craft grant narratives that showcase the need, impact, and viability of your projects.
- Manage grant awards and fulfill reporting requirements to maintain funding.
- Network with experts from Southern TTAP, Western TTAP, FHWA, and leaders in the industry for one-on-one guidance.
Prerequisites:
None. It is recommended participants bring a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) they are interested in applying for.
Target Audience:
This course is designed for Tribal transportation staff, planners, project managers, and public works professionals, as well as grants and finance staff who support transportation programs. It is also relevant for Tribal leaders and program managers involved in planning, developing, and funding transportation projects.

Instructor:
Diann Wilson is a Nationally Certified Master Trainer from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and has received Certified National Instructor training from the National Highway Institute (NHI).
Ms. Wilson has developed online curriculum for Virginia DOT, University of Virginia, Oklahoma State University LTAP, Indiana LTAP, Federal Highway Administration, and OKC MetroTech Technology Center. She also brings years of educating first responders on proper emergency response practices. She has been the owner and consultant for Winning Strategies for 22 years. The services provided include grant writing, grant administration & management, fund raising consultant, seminars and trainings. Diann served as a reserve deputy for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department, a Butner School Board Member for 10 years, and was a speaker for Victim’s Impact Panel for 22 years.
Overall, Diann is an experienced educator who combines hands on experience with effective research practices that produces an effective adult learning environment. One of her most proud accomplishments is being a mother of six children, grandmother to 26 grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren.
