As transit agencies expand on-demand microtransit services, some are exploring opportunities to commingle ADA paratransit and general public trips using newer technology platforms. Integrating these service types can offer potential benefits and introduce operational, policy, technology, and customer service challenges.TRB will host a webinar on Monday, September 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Eastern that will explore findings from TCRP Synthesis 183: Operational and Service Factors When Integrating or Consolidating ADA Paratransit and On-Demand Services on the current state-of-the-practice. Presenters will discuss service designs and parameters, communication tools for customer accommodations, and key decision-making considerations related to policy and technology. Representatives from two transit agencies featured as case studies in the synthesis will share their experiences, including benefits, challenges, and lessons learned from commingling paratransit and general public trips.
