Western TTAP: Observational Data Collection for Child Passenger Safety (Virtual)

This 1.5 hour virtual session will help budding CPS technicians/program managers collect data in a uniform way to secure funding for CPS activities, analyze data into significant data sets, and show outcomes an impacts of CPS activities.

Learning Objectives:

After attending training, you will be able to:

  • Identify WTTAP and how it can help.
  • Define problem statement.
  • Identify community readiness and explain why it is important.
  • Define assessment and identify the 4 types.
  • List ways to conduct an assessment.
  • Explain why analyzing an assessment is important.
  • Identify an observational survey.
  • Discuss the importance of consistent data methods.
  • Demonstrate how to calculate raw data into car seat usage rate(s).

Target Audience:

This course was designed for State, regional, county, city and tribal personnel who work with families, child protective service partners, transportation safety professionals, EMS personnel, law enforcement, or other departments of public safety.

Instructor:

Carrie Brown, MSML has 15 years of experience in public health and human services. She holds a BA in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governor’s University. Carrie has served communities as a Director of Human Services, Tribal Health and Human Services Director, Safety Circuit Rider, and currently, as the Director of the Western TTAP under Applied Pavement Technology. Her expertise is in training delivery with a focus on cultural sensitivity. Her mission is to empower Nevada agencies to support and strengthen their communities through transportation countermeasures and safety initiatives.
