The 2026 Rural Road Safety Awareness Week (RRSAW) campaign focuses on the many modes of travel found in rural communities and the strategies that can help prevent serious injury and fatal crashes on America’s rural roads. This first webinar will focus on:
- An overview of the Rural Opportunities to Use Transportation for Economic Success (ROUTES) initiative and how practitioners can search federal funding resources for the various modes
- The recently updated MyCarDoesWhat resource to help the public understand the safety features of their vehicles and how to use them
- An innovative educational program called Look Twice NC focusing on training drivers on how to watch out for vulnerable road users like motorcyclists, pedestrians & bicyclists.
- Best practices for winter maintenance for active transportation.
