Basic Work Zone Traffic Control

Anyone involved with work zone traffic control can attend this in-person class, including, but not limited to maintenance supervisors, engineers, maintenance and construction crews, and utility employees.

In 2019, there were 842 fatalities in work zones across the United States. 135 of these were workers. This workshop aims to improve worker and motorist safety. Participants will learn the proper use of traffic control devices during road maintenance and construction operations; how to use specific types of traffic control devices; and how to plan, set up, and maintain a work zone.

Confined Space Entry – Entrant, Attendant, & Entry Supervisor

This classroom course is designed to teach participants what a confined space is, how it differs in construction from other industries, potential hazards and how to eliminate them, ventilation and rescue practices and procedures, and employer/employee rights and responsibilities.

For anyone working with road construction in areas where confined spaces are possible, this class is a must. Participants learn how to:

  • Identify hazards
  • Obtain & properly use permits

Equipment Safety and Maintenance

Routine maintenance and safety play an important role in both equipment performance and roadway safety. Maintaining equipment in a proper and timely manner is a foundational cornerstone of transportation, construction, and public works agencies. In an effort to assist agencies in meeting their safety and performance goals, the Equipment Safety and Maintenance training provides introductory maintenance practices, safety checklists, and basic, daily safety procedures and methods for operators and supervisors.  It will assist participants with establishing a culture of safety at their worksites and agencies.

Excavation and Trench Safety

Subterranean work holds a unique set of dangers. To address these, our course, “Excavation And Trenching Safety,” provides a comprehensive, four-hour exploration into the key risks that trenches and excavations pose, such as cave-ins, falls, roll-overs, the presence of hazardous atmospheres, traffic disturbances, electrocutions, water-induced complications, and the unexpected encounter with underground utilities among other hazards. OSHA 10 for Construction

OSHA 10 Training for Construction ensures you understand how to navigate common job-site hazards so that you feel safe at work. Primarily, this involves spotting, avoiding, and reporting safety and health risks encountered on a daily basis.
The training includes best practices on how to prevent slipping, tripping, getting struck by an object, electrocution, and getting caught in between objects or machinery. Additionally, the training helps increase your knowledge about construction-specific safety measures under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.
You will also understand your employer’s responsibility for workplace safety, as well as the rights OSHA gives you as a worker and how to file a complaint if the workplace isn’t living up to its safety obligations.

Roadside Hazards and Airbourne Pathogens

This 6.5 hour training teaches participants how to recognize immediate hazards in the field related to air and blood borne pathogens.  Participants will learn how to respond appropriately to a variety of situations including, but not limited to: Hantavirus, animal droppings, litter clean up, wildlife encounters, meth lab dumps, and discovery of animal and human remains.

This training is intended for highway construction workers, maintenance workers, field engineers, site monitors, heavy equipment operators, emergency medical personnel, or anyone who does field work.
